Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Israel yesterday to a hearty welcome from Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu. PM Netanyahu broke all protocol and himself arrived at the airport to receive his ‘dear friend’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi. PM Modi landed in Tel-Aviv for his three-day visit of Israel. This trip is being extensively covered by the world media as it is a meeting between two of the most powerful leaders in the world at the moment.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived at the airport to welcome PM Modi and he hugged PM Modi as soon as he landed on Israeli soil. There was an interesting thing that most people missed and it was the broach on PM Netanyahu’s suit. The broach had miniature flags of both India and Israel.
PM Netanyahu has been very vocal about his strong friendship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and he wants to leave no stone unturned during this visit of PM Modi. This is the reason why he announced that he will be joining PM Modi at almost all the events during his visit.
This visit of PM Modi is marking 25 years of diplomatic relations between India and Israel. PM Modi has taken the initiative of improving and strengthening the relations between the two countries and this has been lauded by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor too. In a warming gesture, PM Modi also gifted two relics from Kerala to PM Netanyahu.
Special arrangements have been made for PM Modi’s visit and his stay has been arranged at what is dubbed as the most secure suite in the world. During the dinner party for PM Modi, singer Leora Yitzchak who is an Israeli of Indian origin has been called to sing the Indian national anthem.
Apart from the various defence deals, this grand welcome for PM Modi by Israel must have left Pakistan fuming. Not just the warm welcome and the gestures, but PM Benjamin Netanyahu did not mince words when it came to welcoming and praising his dear friend. His welcome statement in Hindi which read “Aapka swagat hai mere dost” has grabbed headlines like never before.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife hosted PM Narendra Modi for a private dinner at their residence Beit Aghion in Jerusalem on Tuesday night.
